CAI-08 and a number of affiliated workshops will be held from September 29 to October 3, 2008 in Dubna (near Moscow). The conference is open for international participation (talks and papers in English are welcome).

Presentation and Topics of Knowledge and Ontology *ELSEWHERE*

Rapid growth of Semantic Web technologies in the New Millennium caused some negative side effects for mass-consciousness. In particular, "knowledge" and "ontology" became just terms of Description Logic (DL) or Ontology Web Language (OWL).

But "ontology" is not just a technical term of Semantic Web, and "knowledge" is not a "content" or "knowledge base". Both terms have general science and philosophy meaning. In particular, ontology is a branch of philosophy that examines entities and their ties and relations, classes of entities and classes of their ties. Knowledge (in accordance with Plato) is true belief, and epistemology is another branch of philosophy that studies methodology of belief validation. Just due to these arguments "knowledge" and "ontology" is very important notions ELSEWHERE outside Semantic Web.

In particular, the Workshop scope includes (but is not limited) the following topics.

• Group and Common Knowledge in Multiagent Systems.
• Belief, Knowledge and Behavior of (groups of) rational agents in formalized communities.
• Epistemology of "ontology content", "data mining", and "machine learning".
• Ontological approach to classification in Informatics, Computer Science and Programming.
• Ontological approach to Semantics of Computer Languages, Programs and Systems
• Ontological problems of Informatics, Computer Science, Programming and Artificial Intelligence.
• Epistemology and ontological modeling Elsewhere outside traditional domains (i.e. Multiagent Systems and Semantic Web).

Paper Submission, Publication and Participation

Papers (in Russian and English) are solicited. Submissions should be in DOC, RTF or PDF format and sent as attachments by e-mail to Program Chair (shilov@iis.nsk.su) with "ELSEWHERE-workshop" in subject line. All accepted papers will be published in CAI-08 proceedings. So, in accordance with conference regulations, submitted papers should not exit 8 page limit (+ up to 5 pages for technical appendix). At least one author of every accepted paper should register via CAI-08 (http://www.raai.org/cai-08/) and pay CAI-08 registration fee (to be announced later). There will be no any special registration fee for the workshop.

It will be a half-day workshop and will consists of one invited talk  (45 minutes) and 10-12 contributed talks (30 minutes each). Invited speaker and title of invited talk will be announced later.
